Gamechanger for diabetes management.

Spark is excited to be part of the FORGETDIABETES project, which is set to revolutionize Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) treatment. This project, led by a consortium of leading universities Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento Sant’Anna (SSSA), Pfützner Science & Health Institute (PSHI) and the University of Padova (UNIPD), aims to develop a Bionic Invisible Pancreas (BIP)that could change the game for diabetes management.

The BIP is a fully-automated device that will deliver insulin directly into the abdomen, mimicking the body's natural glucose regulation. Spark's involvement in this project is crucial to its development.

Commissioned by the SSSA, Spark is co-developing prototypes for in-vivo animal testing, scheduled for later this year. Our project focuses on multiple critical sub-systems of the device, including micro-electromechanical systems, microfluidics, and the development of innovative new sensors.

By working together, we hope to provide T1D patients with a practical solution for managing their condition without constant intervention. This project has the potential to significantly improve the lives of millions living with diabetes, and we're proud to be part of it.

There is still much work to be done before this product becomes available. The development of the BIP is along-term project, requiring extensive research, testing, and refinement to ensure its safety and effectiveness
