We hosted a roundtable with clients and experts to explore sustainability

As we continue to improve on our sustainable product design, we are eager to explore how other businesses approach sustainability. Learning from others is key to expanding our knowledge and discovering innovative ways to integrate sustainability into our practices. That’s why we organized a roundtable discussion, inviting some of our clients and experts on the topic to share their insights.

Bas Flipsen of TU Delft, Bart Bleijerveld of Better Future Factory , Joost Six Dijkstra of Holmatro, Gerben Pakkert of Quooker B.V. and Robin Foolen of SECRID presented their visions. A few of the interesting take-aways: Legislation on repairability is very different regionally and leaves much room for scoring without actually improving. Circularity versus longevity raises complex dilemmas in product development. Hotspot analyses seem more attractive in product development than full-blown LCA. A most shocking insight was given by Bart Bleijerveld: “At the moment more money is spent on sustainability reporting (following the CSRD) than on actual improvements”.

This edition was a pilot and marks the start of more gatherings. We want to keep learning from each other and want better understanding of our clients’ visions. The afternoon left us inspired and reminded us of the complexity and importance of addressing sustainability in product development.
