New display technology for ravas pallet trucks
Ravas and Spark have been successfully collaborating for over 25 years. Spark designs professional, robust, and waterproof housings for Ravas' weighing solutions, contributing time and again to improved products and increased reliability and ease of use.
With the introduction of the new handle display, a new era begins. Where previously the entire measuring unit and interface were placed on top of the pallet truck's A-frame, the functions are now split. The delicate, intelligent measuring unit, also known as the 'red box', is now neatly tucked under the A-frame of the pallet truck. The display has been moved to the handlebar and wirelessly connects to the 'red box'. With Bluetooth Low Energy and an e-ink display, a long battery life for the display is guaranteed.

Design challenges
This relocation of the display to the handle brought new design challenges for Spark. The handlebar, and thus the display, moves and can easily collide with great force. Design for impact became a crucial requirement. This was challenging because we wanted to create a fully plastic injection-molded product due to the advantages in cost and assembly.
Engineering puzzle
We conducted extensive testing at an early stage with the exact position and angle of the display for optimal readability and operation. The display unit had to fit universally on a wide variety of existing handlebars, making the design process an interesting design and engineering puzzle.
Extensive impact tests
We also conducted impact tests, continually improving the design until the product became practically indestructible. This intensive testing phase and the ongoing adjustments that followed have resulted in a display that is both functional and durable, perfectly meeting the needs of Ravas and especially the user.
