Innovative displays that demonstrate the functionality of Secrid wallets
How do you design a shop display that can continue to function for 40 million cycles? Spark took on this challenge for the popular Secrid aluminum wallet/card holder. Together with Secrid we designed the 'Dynamics'; innovative moving displays that demonstrate the functionality of the wallet.
The displays continuously show how the cards smoothly slide in and out of the wallet to capture the attention of shoppers. The Dynamics come in two sizes, 1:1 scale and XL, and will be placed at thousands of official points of sale worldwide.

Smooth, reliable and quiet
The Dynamics are precision mechanical products, and it was a challenge to develop a product that remains smooth, reliable, and quiet even after tens of millions of cycles. Key design steps included choosing the operating concept and carefully selecting components, such as self-lubricating linear guides.
Smart features
Designing the Dynamics, we also took into account inappropriate use by shoppers, such as obstructing the up and down movement. In addition, smart features have been added, such as a light sensor to prevent unnecessary energy consumption and extend the lifespan of the displays, as well as inter-device communication to synchronize the movement of multiple Dynamics.
Sustainability was a key requirement. In addition to focusing on product longevity, production and assembly are located in Europe. The design has also been further optimized for repairibility and disassembly.
Testing under extreme conditions
To ensure that the displays have a long lifespan and to gain insight into wear behaviour, we conducted extensive tests on both the 1:1 and XL versions. We searched for the best components, conducted comprehensive durability tests, analyzed wear under a microscope, and continuously optimized the design.
To ensure that the displays can be used worldwide, we also conducted long-term research on the impact of different temperatures and humidity levels. These tests were carried out in a climate chamber under extreme conditions.
